Representing the Institute for Development and Innovation, an expert in the field of public finance, Nenad Jevtovic, held a lecture on the “Reporting about the public finances on the local level” seminar. The seminar was held between December 1st and 4th in 2019, on Stara Planina mountain resort and was organized and supported by UNDP and the Swedish embassy in Serbia.

The goal of the seminar was to help young journalists, with less than 7 years of work experience, get the knowledge on dealing with public finance data. The other aims were to help them get more journalistic knowledge and teach them how to read and analyze budgets on the national and local levels.
The task expert from the Institute for Development and Innovation was to present the young journalists the basics and challenges of writing about public finance through reading and analyzing budgets on the national and local levels. This part of the seminar covered the following topics: data sources, methodological questions and the ways to analyze budgets on different government levels.
