Building an innovative ecosystem is a long-term process and takes decades. Extraordinary results cannot be expected in the short term and often success is based on the commitment of individuals or teams working to establish innovative and entrepreneurial incubators; or laboratories in secondary schools where young people meet entrepreneurship for the first time.
While the commitment of individuals and teams is important in establishing an incubator, the importance of support from all institutional levels is overly needed, as is the construction of higher hierarchical ecosystems such as science and technology parks. If there is no synergy and consensus among decision-makers at local and republican level, efforts to boost the innovation ecosystem and infrastructure may go to waste.
Employees of the Institute for Development and Innovation, along with colleagues from the Brčko Development and Guarantee Fund and the City of Loznica, participated in workshops aimed at building capacity for the establishment and management of business incubators from June 24 to 27, 2024.
The workshops were one of the activities within the IPA NESESER project implemented by the Institute for Development and Innovation since the beginning of 2023, together with partners from Loznica and the Brčko District. The main goal of the NESESER project is to stimulate the joint cross-border economic potential for self-employment. The project aims to achieve this goal by improving the entrepreneurial environment for young people and newly established companies led by women.
