The identified problem is the unfavorable socio-economic position of young women in the labor market, which is one of the factors contributing to low fertility rates and consequent depopulation processes.
Analyzing the labor market, women’s activity and employment rates are lower than those of men, while the unemployment rate is higher. During the 20th and early 21st centuries, Serbia opened the labor market to women, and their participation in the workforce increased. However, similar to worldwide trends, women in the Serbian labor market are in a less favorable position compared to men.
The causes of this problem are also systemic. In the Regular Annual Report of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality for the year 2022, it is stated that the highest number of complaints related to the discrimination of women regarding childbirth, maternity, and child care.
The main goal of the project is to improve the socio-economic status of young women between the ages of 18 and 30, with a special emphasis on enhancing their economic position in society and encouraging childbirth.
The project tasks will focus on the main project activity, which involves organizing training programs in graphic design, marketing, and business management for women aged 18 to 30 who are unemployed and/or have an entrepreneurial idea they want to implement or improve. At the end of the project implementation, an event will be organized where participants will be connected with key players for their further career development.
The “Economically Strong!” project is supported by the Ministry of Family Care and Demography and is implemented from May 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024.
