The Institute for Development and Innovation organized a working meeting “Rights for moms!” in Belgrade, where the topic was the practice of the European Union when it comes to benefits for families with children.
The working meeting gathered the representatives of the government, civil sector, and independent institutions.
Marija Suzić, researcher at the Institute for Development and Innovation, spoke about European Commission directives. She also presented the benefits for families with children from different EU countries.
At the working meeting, were presented the practices of Germany, France, Sweden, and the Czech Republic when it comes to the rights of families with children. It was concluded that the Czech Republic has the most benefits compared to others when it comes to the rights of families with children: pregnancy and maternity compensatory benefits, parental allowance, maternity benefit, paternity leave, child allowance.
The participants of the working meeting significantly contributed to the discussion and recognition of practices that could be applied in Serbia as well.
At the working meeting, the relationship between the fertility rate, benefits, and incentives for families with children in some EU countries were analyzed.
