THE THIRD DALIA PROJECT BOARD MEETING HELD IN INGOLSTADT

 -  - THE THIRD DALIA PROJECT BOARD MEETING HELD IN INGOLSTADT

Representatives of the Institute for Development and Innovation participated in the 3rd board meeting on the DALIA project as a part of the consortium consisting of 22 partner organizations from nine European countries. The three-day meeting was held between the 9th–11th of April 2024, in Ingolstadt, and it was hosted by the Floodplain Institute of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.

During the meeting, partners discussed the current status of the project, and the progress of the activities that are being implemented, while exchanging insights, addressing challenges, and making future plans.
Another important item on the agenda was the excursion to the riparian forest between Neuburg and Ingolstadt. This location serves as one of the nine demonstration pilot sites (DPS) of the DALIA project as one of the best-practice examples of successful restoration measures along the Danube River. During the visit, partners explored parts of the floodplain and the facilities that were constructed for bypassing the Danube water into the floodplain forest.
The effects of restoration measures have been studied by the Floodplain Institute for around twenty years. The goal is to compile these insights and measures together with insights and measures from other DPSs located in Germany, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, so they could be replicated in other suitable locations.
DALIA (Danube Region Water Lighthouse Action) is a four-year Horizon Europe project that contributes to the goal of the European Union to restore the health of our ocean and waters by 2030.
